If you’ve had a treatment from me then you’ve heard it before “Tan skin is damaged skin!” It’s true! Crow’s feet, blotches, spots……when you don’t protect your skin, you’re getting more than a tan! Sun protection is important. I’m not exempt. I wear it, daily. All seasons. And no, it’s not enough if your makeup has it in. I use a physical sunscreen and apply it after my serums and moisturizers but before my makeup. Apply evenly on your face, neck and all the way down your decolletage. The skin there is thinner and damages easy.
Now, I only use and recommend physical sunscreen over a chemical one and you might want to as well. Chemical ones rely on the chemicals which will dissolve into your skin. There is evidence that these chemical filters can generate free radical damage (not good), some are thought to be endocrine disrupters, which means they’re messing with your hormones! Also, and this is important, if you are battling hyper-pigmented spots, there is evidence that the chemicals can actually trigger pigmentation!
Physical sunscreens are stronger, natural, and a better body guard against pigmentation. They are also unlikely to cause any irritation because they are natural and they start to work immediately. Just remember that they are physical and will rub off and you do need to reapply when swimming or sweating, but they are stable and effective much longer than chemical ones. I’m on team physical and hope you are too!
